12/10-11: the doomsday film festival = 2 days of screenings (a boy and his dog, night of the comet, testament, hardware, more) and panels (paul 'i wrote taxi driver' schrader, wired's kirs alexander, time out's joshua rothkopf, more) on the theme of the end of days. spectacle theater (bk), $8/program. >>

12/16 10am-6pm: the frick museum offers free admission to mark the 75th anniversary of its opening to the public (reg $18) >>

12/21 7pm: badass string quartet ethel teams up with broadway's ron kunene (the lion king) and his south african choral group, themba, for a world music performance. wfc, free. >>
