Do you love walking the High Line or through the New York Botanical Gardens? A fan of Henry Street Settlement or the Tenement Museum? Or have you passed the hours at the Guggenheim or the Brooklyn Public Library?
If you’ve spent any time at all at one of these or other landmark locations throughout the boroughs, now’s the time to show your appreciation. And all it takes is a few clicks: Partners in Preservation is polling New Yorkers to determine which four of 40 historic sites throughout the city will receive $3 million to help return them to their former glory. In an effort to restore, repair, and rebuild the places we New Yorkers cherish, Partners in Preservation has paired up with American Express and the National Trust for Historic Preservation and need you to vote for your favorite places in NYC, whether it be spiritual, educational, recreational, a museum or a pinnacle of culture in your community.
To find out what makes each of these historic sites so special, this weekend each of the nominated sites will host a free or reduced-price open house. Visitors will experience special programming from scavenger hunts to behind-the-scenes tours and re-enactments, to musical performances, arts and crafts, art installations, free food, and more.
As you know, every NYC landmark is unique, and every vote counts. Vote to show your favorite landmarks some love. Yes, landmarks. You can vote once per day, every day, for any landmark, from now until May 21. We heart NY. Don’t you?
