Orchestra of St. Luke’s (OSL) starts their Visionary Sounds series with an intimate performance of Ludwig van Beethoven and a poetry reading with beloved Pulitzer Prize-winning, US Poet Laureate (1993–95) Rita Dove.
Throughout the evening, violinist Jesse Mills and pianist Rieko Aizawa will perform Beethoven’s Sonata for Violin and Piano in A Major and Ms. Dove will read selections from her “masterful collection” of poems Sonata Mulattica, a lyrical, layered work which “[details] the volatile relationship between the Black violinist George Bridgetower and Beethoven” (Los Angeles Times).
Complimentary drinks will be served before and after the event.
