thru 3/28: claudia bitrán: titanic, a deep emotion: christin tierney gallery (tribeca) presents claudia bitrán’s recreation of james cameron’s titanic, created scene by scene over more than a decade using cardboard sets, painted backdrops, animation, performance, and a cast of more than 1,400 volunteers (bitrán plays both rose and cameron, while jack is portrayed by 40 different actors). the project is presented as a three-channel film installation, surrounded by props, paintings, and storyboards that reveal its construction. bitrán will be present at the opening reception 2/20. free admission. >>
