thru 8/17 (closed 6/19 and 7/4): diane arbus: constellation: step inside the world of diane arbus at constellation, an immersive installation featuring over 450 prints by the influential documentary-style photographer. curated from prints made by her former student neil selkirk—some never before seen—this is the largest and most complete showing of arbus’s works in new york to date. park avenue armory (ues), $25 >>

thurs thru sun: new dance alliance’s 39th performance mix festival: nda’s annual festival brings together 40 experimental dance and film artists over four days. abrons arts center (les), $16. >>

thurs 6-8pm (monthly): dumbo first thursday gallery walk: explore dumbo’s waterfront arts scene at the first thursday gallery walk, where 11 galleries will stay open late for a night of opening receptions, special events, and artist talks. an optional hour-long ‘insiders’ tour at 6pm (rsvp required) will feature talks from artists and curators at select exhibitions. free admission. >>

thurs 7pm doors: rooftop films: farm-to-screen shorts: the popular rooftop films series, one of the word’s longest-running and largest outdoor showcases for indie film, returns for its 29th season. tonight’s event at brooklyn grange sunset park includes a pre-screening tour of the rooftop farm, followed by short films that explore the tangled ties between humans, animals, and the earth. $20. >>

thurs 7:30pm: love, sex, + magic: comedy variety show: comedian jenny gorelick, whose ex is a magician, hosts an evening to make your worries disappear, featuring stand up, burlesque, drag, circus, musical comedy, and of course, magic. the mirror bar at arlo williamsburg, $20 2-for-1 admission. >>
