UNIVERSITY OPEN AIR: A FREE SERIES OF OUTDOOR CLASSES OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AND TAUGHT BY IMMIGRANT SCHOLARS FROM AROUND THE WORLD (SPONSORED)

University Open Air: Fall 2022 Semester

Brooklyn Public Library, in collaboration with Prospect Park Alliance, presents a fifth semester of University Open Air (UOA), a series of free classes and workshops taught by immigrant professors, researchers and academics from around the world. University Open Air is a space for these scholars, many of whom cannot practice their professions in the U.S., to share their knowledge and experience with fellow community members, neighbors and friends.

Taking place in the open spaces around Prospect Park’s Boathouse, the University seeks to provide a platform for the talent and wisdom in the life stories of New York’s local immigrants while bringing attention to one of Brooklyn’s greenest public spaces. Classes are offered in a variety of disciplines and while UOA courses aim to equip students with valuable skills, they are non-accredited. Classes are first come first serve and will be capped at 15 participants.

The Fall 2022 Semester takes place from September 8 – 18. See the BPL Presents page at bklynlibrary.org for a full schedule and guidelines.
