thru 10/27: the met museum’s new roof garden commission: petrit halilaj, abetare: kosovar artist petrit halilaj’s site-specific installation, a series of large metal sculptures inspired by drawings found on school desks in kosovo, albania, and countries in the former yugoslavia, opens at the met’s iris and b. gerald cantor roof garden for the season. metropolitan museum of art (ues), free entry with museum admission (with pay-what-you-wish admission for new york state residents and ny, nj, and ct students, $30 general/$22 seniors/$17 students otherwise). >>

thru 9/13: hot dog in the city: artist duo jen catron and paul outlaw take street meat to new heights with their 65-foot long sculpture of the iconic nyc-style hot dog in the heart of times square. topping the world’s record for largest hot dog sculpture, the creation calls to mind themes of consumption, capitalism, class, and contemporary culture. the hydraulic dog will ascend daily at 12pm, showering visitors with a burst of confetti, and a series of public programming is planned. unveiling ceremony 4/30 12pm. broadway + 46th street, free admission. >>
